You can find a tires speed rating on the sidewall, where one will typically see a string of numbers and letters (see bellow). These are several important codes, such as radial construction, aspect ratio, tire load and speed rating. The speed rating is typically the last letter listed on the sidewall (coming after the load index, which is a number). For example, if you see M+S 235/45 R18 94V on the side of the tire, the last letter, V, is your speed rating.
Tire speed ratings indicates the maximum speed a tire can handle.
The letter L indicates the maximum speed that the wheel can handle is 120 km.(75 mph)
The letter M indicates 130 km/hour (80.78 mph)
The letter N indicates 140 km/hour. (86.99 mph)
The letter P indicates 160 km/hour. (99.42 mph)
The letter Q indicates 170 km/hour. (105.63 mph)
The letter R indicates 180 km/hour. (111.85 miles/hour)
The letter H indicates that the wheel can handle more than 200 km/hour. (118.06 miles/hour)
The letter V indicates 240 km/hour (149.13 miles/hour)
